- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2013Very well constructed bag. Many compartments to make organizing your stuff easy. Mounting to the handle bars is fairly easy and it is solid. The bag goes on and comes off easily. This is not a big bag, but that is fine for me. I don't like having a really big bag strapped to my bars. All I need in it are things I want to be able to get quickly: camera, phone, energy bars, maps, maybe a rain jacket. The map window on top is small. I found it to not be of much use. Maps that I might have for a century ride, etc... are at a scale that only allows me to see 2 - 3 miles of roads after I fold it up to get it into the map sleeve. That means I would need to take it out and refold it every few minutes. Nice that it is included, but of limited use. Addition mounting kits are available, which make it easy to move the bag to a different bike easily.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2020I bought this to store snacks for a ride on the GAP. It is a good size for snacks, wallet and phone. I think if I got the larger size, it would obscure my light. The mounting bracket fits fine on my handlebars, but the screws were not long enough for the size of my handlebars. Got the appropriate size screws and it works fine. I could not use the "security cable" due to the screw change out, but that is not a big deal to me. I doubt someone will steal the mount along a rail trail. I have used it twice on some bumpy trails and it has held up well--no slipping forward on the mount. I have a Topeak "trunk" that I have had for at least 10 years and it is holding up great, that is why I bought the Topeak handlebar bag. It is a bit more expensive than the others I looked at, but the secure mount is worth the price--I definitely did not want to mess with velcro straps every time I had to take the bag off the bike. I am glad I spent the money for the Topeak.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2024I use this bag for extended touring, and I like its layout very much. I’ve bought additional mounts for other bikes, and three more bags as gifts for family and friend.
+ It is just right for carrying those little things that you want handy.
+ I love the thin top zipper compartment, I can slide my phone in, zip it most of the way closed, and still hear audio directions from my navigation software.
+ The bag is well made and quite sturdy.
+ Both the handle and shoulder strap work well for off-bike carrying.
+ The rain cover is convenient and effective
+ Having the choice of Fixer 8 or Fixer 8E mounts allows mounting to a wide variety of bike types.
- Installation takes some thought the first time. The provided adapters don’t fit 22.2 handlebars; you have to add a bit of inner tube shim. The security cable doesn’t add much support.
My biggest issue is the plastic stiffener in the bag. It is not very strong and the bag WILL sag. On a cross country tour westbound, I had to tilt the mount up, then tilt it more, then find a hardware store and improvise a reinforcement from mending plates. When I got home, I made an aluminum stiffener to replace the plastic, which solves the problem. (I’ve replaced the plastic with aluminum on the bags I've bought for others.) Topeak should use a metal stiffener, period.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2011I bought two of these bags, one for me and one for my wife, before setting out on a bike hike vacation to Cape Cod. The bag has lots of little pockets to hold just about everything you can imagine needing on a bike hike; spare tire and tools to change a tire, wallet, cell phone, camera, lip balm, suntan lotion, etc. etc. The bag mounted easily to the handlebars and was very secure once on the bike. It popped off easily enough with the quick release feature, which was handy when making stops at the beach or at a visitor center or the restroom. One really nice feature that I didn't think we would ever use is the bright yellow rain bonnet for the bag. We got caught in a downpour midway through our ride and the rain bonnet kept everything in the bag dry. Overall, a great product that I highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2014This bag is the perfect size. Originally I'd looked at the one size smaller, but glad I went with this one. The mount bracket that comes with it works great and has a place for your cyclometer, and the bracket doesn't look clumsy if you just leave it on when you're not using the bag. The bag snaps easily on and off the bracket. It has lots of pockets and compartments, and a very handy clear vinyl window on the top for your maps. I just did a 4 day ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway and this bag held my camera, camp knife, wallet, phone, map, bike tools, and bags of nabs. Topeak makes a good product and this one is highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2015The main compartment of this bag is small. Not that you should be packing drinks in this thing, but It will barely fit a 32oz bottle of Gatorade turned sideways and partly extending above the bag's edge. The side pockets have room for a small phone or camera but little else. The mesh pockets on the side have little practicality. The pocket on the front has little use other than to carry sunglasses. The documents compartment has many pockets, most of which are too small to be useful. The map case is a useful feature but its use interferes with the carrying handle and unlike the shoulder strap the carrying handle cannot be removed or repositioned.
As many others are reporting the mounting hardware is junk. You can likely rig an acceptable solution. The plastic piece that is supposed to be used to relocate handlebar items interfered with my stem. Once the hardware is mounted it is solid. The process for removing and reattaching the bag is straightforward.
It seems that at some point the designers of this bag decided to just add smaller and smaller pockets and more zippers with little thought for what those spaces could be used for. I would have just preferred a larger main compartment. The larger version of this bag is only slightly more expensive and if I were to do it again, I would purchase that bag instead.
EDIT: Having used this for more than 3 years now, it has performed better than expected. I'd move my review to 4 stars, but the bag now costs 50% more than what I paid and at its current price I would not recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!
-Very good, sturdy and easy quick release
-large inner pocket with useful outer pockets. Inner fits camera + film, tools, lights. small sketchbook, pens and some first aid stuf in the pockets.
-map reader obscured slightly by the handle but doesn't matter much
-good rain cover
-perfect size to slightly balance out heavy panniers but definitely not too big
Only problem I encountered is that, because I have an extra set of brakes on top of my handlebars, I had to get them moved out two inches, changing my brake cables which cost £20 but no problem if you don't have these.

3.0 out of 5 stars Checa el tamaño que necesites

5.0 out of 5 stars De très bonne finition
Mais un peu petit et lourd. Convient très bien pour une ballade à la journée mais s'avère peu adaptée pour une randonnée sur plusieurs jours avec des volumes plus importants à transporter
