- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2017Color: BlackVerified PurchaseWhat works for me might not work for you - - I'm six feet tall, 210 pounds. But I do have these on my two most-used bikes. One is a classic steel-frame touring bike, the other a carbon racer and hill climber. Quality of construction is very good, styling is clean. Most importantly, no numb crotch on longer rides. For the price, an exceptional product. Better (for me, at least), than a $200 seat that came with my Specialized Tarmac Comp years ago. Try one if you haven't found "the right thing" yet. Hard to go wrong for under $80.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2021Color: WhiteVerified PurchaseI've been using a terry fly saddles for over 20 years. It's well made, comfortable whether your sitting on the nose or further back. The shell does not flex. It is not as skinny as some of the other saddles and not so wide as to inhibit strong peddling. If I hadn't ridden in a while it takes about a week for my rear end to adjust to the pressure and after that it is super comfortable. I hardly notice it's there. I get about 3 years of use (2,000 miles) out of one before the cushion gets tired of carrying my 200 lbs and when that happens I buy a new one. Fortunately the saddle hasn't changed in the last 20 years, I hope it stays that way. I'm not a racer and don't need the one with titanium rails which are quite a bit more expensive. I bought the white one because it coordinates with my white bike, but a black one would have looked fine too. Let's see how long I can keep the white seat from getting bike grease on it. I've tried other saddles and this one fit me the best so I stick with it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2013Color: BlackVerified PurchaseAt first it was comfortable. Two weeks and a 150 miles later it began to hurt my sit bones. I called Terry and they suggested I give it more time. I put another 4 hundred miles on the saddle and my skin and sit bones over the skin are burning. I cannot ride. I feel the pain when I am not riding. Now it is past the warranty period and they will not allow me to return or exchange it. I should not have been so cooperative and demanded my money back.
My sit bones are 143 mm apart. Their website does not match size with model or the correct one within model. I cannot tell if I have what they call the right size according to them.
Avoid Terry.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2012Color: BlackVerified PurchaseI have Terry Flys on all my four road bikes. Three of them are the Ti rail version with leather cover, but I wanted a synthetic cover for my all-weather bike. I'm a 51 year old road rider that averages 100-125 miles a week. After trying several other saddles, I seem to always come back to these. They just seem to fit and provide support in the right places while not getting in the way of my pedal stroke. The Ti railed version soaks up the bumps slightly better, but otherwise the two versions fit and perform the same. They're not flashy or the lightest, but for comfort and longevity, they're a very good choice if they fit you. Choosing the right saddle can be a long and frustrating process as everyone is different, but personally I'm sold on the Flys.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2014Color: BlackVerified PurchaseI just bought my second one of these. I had the first one for about 10 years before it gave up the ghost. (All saddles with padding eventually become uncomfortable. Some people claim Brooks leather saddles don't.)That said, I recommend trying any saddle at a shop rather than taking a gamble online unless you find one for five or ten bucks and want to take a gamble.
Not light and no Kevlar panels, but suits my tushie and lasts longer than some other great saddles.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2021Color: BlackVerified PurchaseTerry saddles are the one you should put in your bike - they are the best
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2013Color: BlackVerified PurchaseAfter a 3 year hiatus I am back to Terry Fly saddles. I tried a few other cheapos and they all broke or caused sleepy peepee despite the softness. this saddle is very comfortable for me. I also like the length because I ride a hardtail with suspension seatpost (from a full squish) and need to squeeze the saddle with my thighs on downhill runs. My bum had to get used to the harder saddle for a month but it's been a great relationship ever since. I will buy this again. Price was also reasonable.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2013Color: BlackVerified PurchaseDecided to try and replace my Avenir 200 series mountain saddle because I was experiencing some discomfort in the gooch. Got this Terry Fly CrMo Black. A few things:
Pros:
+ Appearance - The thing looks sharp, no way around it. My bike is murdered out in flat black and this thing fit the look perfectly. A lot of saddles have silver rails underneath, but these were all black...like the storm of justice.
+ Construction - The saddle feels really well made. I've had experience with other Terry products before and they flex in ways that were unsettling to me. Perhaps with those saddles it's a super-advanced high-tech design feature, but this one was solid. However that leads me to what made me return the FLY...
Cons:
- Comfort - Nope...nope, nope, nope. It's hard as a brick bat. The pamphlet says you don't want a saddle to be too soft, because then you'll complain about discomfort all over. I read that and thought, "That sounds reasonable"...but apparently my brain didn't tell my butt, because once I got on my way, my backside was screaming at me, "MAKE IT STOP! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!". I adjusted it, fiddled with it, all to no avail...no relief to be found.
Summary:
Like I said, it's a nice looking product that seems well made. However, I think even The Thing from "Fantastic 4" may find it to be a little stiff.
