I put an X0 rear derailleur combined with a XG-1080 11-36 cassette on my Ridley Helium for the Assault on Mt. Mitchell this year. That was combined with Red shifters and a Force compact crankset. It worked fantastic! Last year I had to walk sections of the mountain. This year the 10 speed MTB components allowed me to spin up the hard sections allowing me to finish in under 8 hours, a 75 minute improvement from last year. Sure the X0 doesn't shift as cleaning as a Force derailleur with a small range cassette, and I had a few missed shifts, but all-in-all, it met my mountain needs on my road bike. I was very, very happy to have it.
