I found an exact match for bar attachment (31.8), for triple 10 speed. it came with excellent instructions. first time diy'er working on this component and it went on fine. just went for a bikeride. chain doesn't touch anywhere and it shifts perfectly without slipping off sides of crank. You do need to take apart your chain to uninstall/reinstall. Luckily for me I had the easy release link because I didn't have a chain tool.

No 11 speed triple is available from Shimano but this one will fill the bill.

I went to a 11 speed 105 cassette and rear derailleur which shifts perfectly but it must use a 11 speed chain. The 10 speed FC-5703 with a ST-5703 shifter and FD-5703 front derailleur shifts perfectly.

The 10 speed chain is slightly wider so will not work with 11 speed cassettes. Since the 11 speed chain is just a bit narrower it can be adjusted to shift perfectly.

Very hard to find a 9x3 front derailleur, this did the trick replacing one that was at least ten years old. The description said 34.9mm band, but what was delivered was for a brazed on mount. I ended up buying an adapter to be able to use this one. That is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, but it looks like the seller does sell both. Quality product.

I bought this derailleur for a bike build to handle a triple front crank for some serious climbs in the mountains on an old road/touring bike. I set it up according to the instructions and some online videos and it worked flawlessly. Never dropped a chain on any shift up or down. I highly recommend!!

I bought my Surly LHT new in 2012, it came with a Shimano SLX front derailleur. No matter how I adjusted it, I always had problems shifting into the small crank ring. I haven’t had any shifting problems since I installed the 105 derailleur.

I'm getting older, and I may be getting more grumpy. I like things that work, and work well. I also don't like being forced to change components, especially expensive shifters.

I love the Shimano Ultegra 6603 shifters, especially because I mount a Mirrycle (mirror) on the left shifter for each of my road bikes. [...]

For this reason, I don't care for the newer 105 or Ultegra shifters that can no longer mount a mirror to the shifter. I know. I'm supposed to mount one of these small mirrors to stick out the end of the left handlebar. But I'm stubborn and resist. Yet in fairness, I did purchase a set of the new ST-5700's to try out on a double, and didn't like the feel of them compared to the 6600's.

I purchased this FD-5703 newer style 105 derailleur for use on a compact triple crankset with 50/39/30 gearing. This is because the inner cage of the existing FD-6603 would hit into the middle chain ring. In the Shimano Service Instructions, you'll find a specification for "Min difference between top and intermediate". The Ultegra states 13 (52/39/30), whereas the 105 states 11 (50/30/30). Hence the need to change to the 105 front derailleur for the compact crankset.

After installation of the FD-5703, the shifting of my ST-6603G Ultegra shifters for the left/front derailleur felt very "stiff". After 3-4 actuations on my repair stand, without the chain installed, the shifter failed! No ratcheting left at all. To say I was not pleased, would be an understatement.

After talking with a Shimano Technical Rep, I was informed that there have been "design changes" that make the FD-5703 "incompatible" with the ST-6603 shifters. Tech naturally stated the usual, that one should use all the same "series" of components.

As it turns out, if you're running the Ultegra 6600 or 6603 shifters, you can use the FD-"5603" without destroying your 6603 shifters. But I learned this after failing a perfectly good shifter. If Shimano introduces changes like this, that are going to possibly fail or destroy shifters, then I think they should have a warning note in the box. After all, which of us after working on bikes for 10+ years, reads the literature before doing anything? After all, this is just a front derailleur?

If you have a 6600, 6603, and compare the back of the derailleur to the newer 5703, you'll notice the difference pretty quickly. I now keep two boxes of spare derailleurs to separate out this difference so I don't get a shifter failure again.

I hope this post saves you some time and aggravation.

Replaced a broken 4503 tiagra derailleur with 25000 miles on it.
The installation instructions were very clear. Took me no time to install. Make sure you route the cable correctly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good replacement FD (and works as a 9speed too)

I had to find an alternative to a old triple 9 speed front derailleur and couldn't find anything. I finally read on a forum that this 10 speed will work.

Can confirm it does with a little more chain rub as the cage is a little smaller - hence need to trim a little when shifting across the range.

    Very happy with this!
