Well my B17 came today I looked at it,Hummmmmm. I knocked on it, Errrrrrrrrrrr, then I sat on it. Uggggggg. WAY TO HARD!
Well, I did some research and found your supposed to soak the sit bone part of the seat, not the nose with a wet rag from both top and bottom for about 2 Hr then ride for about a Hr. Well I did just that and WOW that was easy and by mile 5 on my ride, that seat was the most comfortable seat I have ever sat on. And they say it gets better with time as it begins to take on fine details of your Ummm, dairy air......

Ok,I'm sold, every one I spoke to was right..... This is the best $100 bucks I ever spent on a saddle. Period Hands down End!

I really wanted to like the B17 S since I had planned the design and colors of my bike entirely around it (aged tan saddle, medium brown handlebar tape, and a dark green saddle bag). But after buying it from my local bike store and riding on it for about an hour for several days I found the saddle chafed on the most sensitive part of the female genitalia (and every woman knows how much THAT hurts!) The skin felt raw and injured. And pushing the nose down a few degrees helped but didn't fix the problem--it might have made it worse because I found myself slipping forward on the new saddle more and putting even more pressure on the pubic area. The surface of the saddle nose is just too hard. On a road bike your body is angled forward enough that as much as 40% of your weight can be on the front of the bike at any time, so the soft tissue of your pubic area will be compressed. Most men are not as sensitive as women when it comes compressing that part of their anatomy, but a woman has twice the amount of nerves that men have down there, so the pain can be fairly excruciating! No saddle can be a good fit if it doen't recognize this basic fact--this part of the females genitalia CANNOT BE COMPRESSED!

While the B17 S supported my sit bones perfectly and the T shape ensured no pressure on my inner thigh, the hard nose badly hurt my lady parts. I was able to adjust my riding position to put less pressure on it, but when you're commuting in traffic and trying to avoid an oncoming bus, you're not going to pay attention to exactly where your butt is positioned on the saddle. I know these saddles will break in eventually after about 500 miles, but no way am I waiting around and risking injury to my genitals just to break in a saddle.

I bought this saddle in the honey color and right out of the box it was noticeably comfortable and I haven't had any problems with it. I've read so many things about how these saddles are hard as a rock and uncomfortable until you break them in but I found that to be untrue. I'm sure with time it'll better mold to my body but the first ride felt comfy. I didn't have any of that soreness you sometimes have when riding on a new saddle. So if you're considering buying an aged one because you fear the breaking in period, I would say that you should save your money and just buy it brand new.

I've been using this saddle for about a month now and my commute to work just feels so much better.

I read every possible review on this saddle. I scoured cycling forums and blog posts. I wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting my money. I was so worried I wouldn't like it and that it's cost a lot of money to find out. Finally I gave in and asked my husband for one for Christmas. I wanted the copper model to match the copper bell on my bike, silly, I know, but it looks gorgeous. I had read that the leather on these special models is thicker and could take longer to break in. When I first felt the saddle it was hard as a rock and I was nervous. My other seat was the stock one that came on my Trek FX. My other seat was so painful that after making numerous adjustments and adding a padded cover I was still miserable (while also wearing padded shorts). I was neglecting my poor bike because it was just too painful to ride. I popped the new saddle on and worked on getting the tilt right (Brooks recommends slightly tilting the nose upwards). I hopped on for a quick cruise around the block and was amazed at the comfort. I have now been taking trips around town without any padding and have no pain.
